Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child be Baptized if I am not a member of your church?

At least one parent, guardian, or sponsor must be a member of a Christian church. All sponsors or godparents should be mature Christians ready to help your child grow in faith and love toward God and neighbor.

Do I have to be a member of CUMC Oakdae to partcipate in programs?

No. Everything we do is intended to help others, draw us closer together as a community, and as a community of those who believe in God.

What steps must I take to join a church program/ministry?

We encourage you to visit our church and attend a particular program or ministry to determine which is most in alignment with what interests you. We do have a connect card that may assist us with pointing you in the right direction.

Are the ministries grouped by age?

Our ministry and church programs are not sorted by age. We have ministries with participants ranging from ages 8 to 80+ years.

If I make a donation, can I select a particular ministry to support?

We understand there are certain causes that may be of more interest to you than others. Therefore, you may specify in our online donation which ministry program you wish to support.

Why smaller ministries/programs?

We believe small groups are the heartbeat of our church. They are groups of 8-10 people that meet during the week for Bible discussion, communion, prayer, accountability, discipleship, etc. You might even say it’s where the church can be the church. Small groups provide an atmosphere for people to really get to know one another.
